Kelpie

The Australian kelpie is a breed of dog whose primary function today is that for which it was originally bred, herding sheep in Australia. The breed is descended from Scottish shepherd dogs, most probably border collies, sent to Australia about 1870, with the likely infusion of dingo blood during the early stages of its development. The kelpie grows to 50 cm (120 in) high at the shoulder and weighs about 18 kg (40 lb). Its short straight, harsh coat is usually black or black and tan; red, brown, and bluish gray also occur. The breed is placed in the Miscellaneous Class by the American Kennel Club.

The Australian kelpie is a medium sized dog used primarily for herding sheep in Australia. It is considered an excellent stock dog. The kelpie’s ancestry most likely includes the border collie and possibly the dingo, a wild dog native to Australia. Kelpie dog can say as strong as Pointer Dog.
