Whippet Dog

The whippet is a lean, swift dog - similar to a small greyhound - that is popular for hunting rabbits and for racing. Male are 48 to 54 cm high at the shoulder, female are shorter. Elegant and slender in outline, whippets have rose ears; smooth coats, and long, thin tail carried low. The breed was developed in England during the 19th century to course rabbits in an enclosure, later, whippet were raced.


The whippet was developed in England more than 100 years ago, most likely by small English greyhound, with its streamline body with long legs, the whippet is consider the fastest domestic dog (animals) of its weight, running as fast as 55 km/hr.
