English Cocker Spaniel

The English and American cocker spaniels descend from the same basic stock and are similar in general appearance. The English cocker spaniel is slightly bigger, and leaner than is the American. Males stand 40.6 - 43.2 cm at the shoulder and weight 12.7 - 15.4 kg. Female stand 38.1 - 40.6 c and weight 11.8 - 14.5 kg.

This English cocker spaniel carries less coat than does the American breed. It is an attractive sporting dog, always alert and alive with energy. It has a powerful gait and pendant ears, the tail is docked. English cocker spaniels come in a broad range of colors, solids, and roans, such as blue, red, orange, or lemon as well as black and tan. The breed was recognized officially by the American Kennel Club in 1946.
