Greyhound Dog

The Greyhound is a breed of dog that was known in both ancient Egypt and Greece. Greyhound dog type were known on the British Isles by the 9th century AD. This dog has been used to run down many kinds of small game, primarily hare. Since 1776, when the first known dog coursing club was founded in England, the greyhound dog has been valued as a coursing dog. Greyhound racing became popular after 1876.

A large and strong dog breed, measuring up to 76 cm (30 in) at the shoulder and weighing about 32 kg (70 Lb), the greyhound is considered to be the epitome of elegance and grace among canines. A greyhound is smooth coated, any color being acceptable, and has small, folded ears and a long, down-carried tail. Its roached back assists the dog in galloping flat out. A greyhound is both vary fast and externally agile. It can be raised as a gentle and well-mannered house dog or domestic dog.



The greyhound dog is one of the oldest of dog. With its highly developed sense of sight and its sleek, smooth coated body and long legs. It is popular for coursing racing and show.
