Pembroke Welsh corgi is along bodied, short legged working dog. The breed apparently resulted from the crossing of small schipperkelike dogs (brought to Wales by Flemish weaves about 1107) with the local breeds, probably early Cardigan corgi types. The Pembroke has erect ears, a characteristic foxy face, and a tall docked completely.
The dog stands 25 to 30 cm (10 to 12 in) at the shoulder and weighs 10.8 to 12.7 kg (24 to 28 lb). The coat is of medium length and double. The undercoat is short, dense, and weather resistant, the outer coat is somewhat longer and coarse.
The pembroke may be red, sable, black, or tan, with or without markings the legs, chest, neck, muzzle or underparts, and may have a blaze on the head.
