Great Dane Dog

The Great Dane

Great Dane is one of the most distinguished  of giant dogs breeds. Egyptian monumnents from about 3000 BC supposedly contain drawings of dogs like the Great Dane. The modern breed reached its present state in Germany in the late 19th century. There is no known reason for connecting the Great Dane with Denmark. The name was adopted by the English from the French, grand Danois.

Males must be 76.2 cm, but it is preferable that males be at least 81.3 cm and females at least 76.2 cm. The Dane is powerful and smooth coated, with a massive rectangular head, cropped ears (except in Britain), and a long curved tail carried low. Its broad range of colors includes brindle, fawn, blue, black, and harlequin (in which a white has black patches of color).

The great dane is one of the largest of all dogs. Have minimum height at the shoulders is 71.1 cm for females and 76.2 cm for males. Despite the origin implied by its name, the Great Dane was first bred in Germany and was used initially to hunt wild boar.
